In Pace Requiem

Terri Sciavo may not be allowed to die in peace, but is this a death knell for a united Republican Party? I found this blog fascinating and decided to link to it. Please read it!

Music Soothes The Savage Breast...

Music. Politics ... Politics. Music. Where should one start when there are two consuming topics in one's life? Apparently both. More often than not I find myself searching out good music that helps me illustrate to people in a few words just why I'm so frustrated with the road the American people have set this country upon. Clearly the G. W. agenda has no compassion and the Democratic agenda has no backbone. So where is the music that helps a person sort out one's alienation from the American government, purportedly of, by, and for the people.

Clearly it isn't to be found on Clear Channel stations and the radio underground of the 70's is long gone, but every once in awhile I come across some pretty good stuff online. Try doing a Google search for people like David Rovics, Dan Bern (who isn't terribly political, but did a good job before this past election trying to get the word out about GW), Robb Johnson, Anne Feeney, Black 47, Jack Hardy. These are a few of those many unsung (no pun intended) messengers who look beyond the spin, beyond the headline to look at the roots of the problems and to whom I am currently listening.

There are many others who don't get the recognition they deserve who are slogging away, writing and performing the songs that root about to the heart of the matter. Who don't pull punches. Who aren't afraid to say the emperor has no clothes. I'm waiting to hear more about these hundreds whom I've never heard.

Thus endeth my first post. Amen.
